The theatrical Baroque mode was often adopted for works of art commissioned by proponents of the Counter-Reformation in Italy. Using Berniniís design of the Cornaro Chapel with the altarpiece "Ecstasy of Saint Teresa" and Gaulliís "Triumph of the Name of Jesus" point out the key or common features of this stylistic mode, how this stylistic mode engages the viewer, and how it conveys the spiritual message of the religious reformers.
