I give my grandchildren clipboards to write on, especially if they are writing while we are in the car or any other place where there's not a table or desk. Is that the term you're looking for -- clipboard? http://www.answers.com/clipboard?cat=technology
=)
What about plastic sheet?
Are the sentences below grammatical?
1. He inserted a plastic sheet between the papers in his notebook to write a passage with a pencil.
2. He inserted a plastic card board between the papers in his notebook to write a passage with a pencil.
The term "a plastic sheet" implies something flimsy, something that is not solid enough to write on. Cardboard is stiff and therefore usually solid enough to write on.
You could use the term "a plastic board," I suppose.
