A circuit contains two devices that are connected in parallel. If the resistance of one of these devices is 12 ohms and the resistance of the other device is 4 ohms, the total resistance of the two devices is?

A.0.333 ohms

B.3 ohms

The TOTAL resistance is obviously 12 + 4= 16 ohms; however, the resistance in the circuit is 3.0 ohms and your answer is correct. I think we can assume the person who wrote the question meant the total resistance in the circuit (in which they are parallel).
