im doing solving radical equations

how do i do the squareroot of x+1=x+1
the squareroot is only around the first x+1

i got to the part 0=x^2+x is this right and if it is do i factor it or use the quadratic equation. thnx for the help!!!

You did fine as far as you went with it.

If sqrt(x+1) = x+1, then you can square both sides of the equation to get.
x+1 = (X=1)^2 = x^2 + 2x + 1
x^2 + x = 0
x(x+1) = 0
x = 0 or -1
