Homework Help: math

the recipe for pasta salad will serve 6 people, and there are 32 people attending the party. I know that when i added all the ingredients i had i got 11.24, and so then i multiplied by 5 1/3 which is 16/3... but i'm not sure if that is right considering many people are telling me (friends) that you are supposed to multipl 11.24 by 32/6 which is kinda what i did, but i divided 32/6 to get 5 1/3 or 16/3.. i'm so confused because if i do it the way i think is right i get a different answer than the way my friens did it

11.24 * (32/6) is exactly the same as 11.24 * (16/3).
If the answers are different then there was a mistake in calculating either one or possibly both equations.
