Suppose it takes 3 days for a space vehicle to travel from Earth to the moon. About how long would it take for the same vehicle traveling at the same speed to Jupiter? Moon - 240,000 mi Jupiter - 391,000,000. The space vehicle would take how many days to reach Jupiter?
I assume you wish to assume a constant velocity over the distances.
240,000/3(24) = 3333.33 mph
391,000,000/3333.33 = 117,300 hr = 4887.5 days.
The mean distance from Earth to Jupiter is really 483,700,553 miles however, making the constant velocity trip time 145,110 hr = 6046 days.
A realistic trip to the Moon departs the Earth with a velocity of just under 25,000 mph relative to the Earth.
The real minimum energy trip time to Jupiter is ~2.73 years.
