X+2y=3

**DrBob222**, Monday, January 14, 2008 at 4:45pmSubstitute x-9 from the first equation into the second equation for y to obtain

x+2(x-9)=3

x+2x-18=3

3x=21

x=7

Now substitute x=7 into the first equation to evaluate y and you will have the point.

Post your work if you want us to check it.

**Chris**, Monday, January 14, 2008 at 5:01pmOH i get it, ah alright. Now to get y=x-9 i just plug in x=7 right? and would leave me with y= -2 right? and it would look like this

y=7-9 and y=-2

So the point is x=7 and y=-2 or (7,-2).
