Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help forum. The speaker would have to choose between the Preterit or the Imperfect.
If you wish to imply that Ava no longer works there and wish to say "she did work there" or "she worked" there (within a specific time in the past) = Preterit.
If you wish to say "she used to work" or "she was working" or "she worked" (terciary meaning so concentrate on the first two) = Imperfect.
If you have to have ONE WORD for the Preterit it would be ACTION, while the ONE WORD for the Imperfect would be DESCRIPTION.
