The length of a rectangle is 9 in. more than twice its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 48 in., find the width of the rectangle.

c) 6 in
d) 7 in

Call width = w
then the length is 2w+9
the perimeter is twice the length + twice the width
48 = 2 (2w+9) + 2 (w)
