Hi! I am trying to solve an order of operation question

would you please check my answer...
36+9/3*5

I soved it to equal 51
9/3=3
3*5=15
36+15=51

Thanks for your help!!

It looks fine as indicated by this site:

I hope this helps. Thanks for asking.

Depending upon the order of operation, you can get several different answers. You need to use parentheses and brackets to specify the order of operation. In your case, you calculated

36 + [(9/3)*5]= 51
What you wrote could just have easily have been interpreted as
[(36+9)/3]*5 = 75
or
(36+9)/(3*5) = 3

thank you!

can you solve this proble for me 162 x 15/51

can you solve this problem for me 165 x 15/51

Hi! I'd be happy to check your answer for the order of operations question.

The expression is: 36 + 9 / 3 * 5

Let's break it down step by step:

1. According to the order of operations, we start by solving any operations inside parentheses. But since there are no parentheses in this expression, we move on to the next step.

2. Next, we solve any multiplication or division from left to right. In this case, we have division and multiplication. So, we start with 9 / 3.

9 / 3 = 3

3. Now, we multiply the result (3) by 5.

3 * 5 = 15

4. Finally, we add the result (15) to 36.

36 + 15 = 51

Therefore, your answer is correct! The expression 36 + 9 / 3 * 5 equals 51.

Well done on solving the problem correctly! Let me know if you have any other questions or need further help.
