Lights out, cars won't run, airplanes won't fly, BUT ONE car runs and how did those govt officials from Washington get there by plane if planes won't fly?

I don't watch a lot of movies; therefore, I'm not familiar with A.I.
Almost any space movie has the roar of engines from other spacecraft in space. Since an atmosphere is required to transmit sound waves, this defies a law of physics.
