How can I tell if a structure of a compound will be optically active and will have an enantiomer?

optically active=> if compound doesn't have a racemic mix as a product of a rxn

enantiomer=> depends on the molecule and a number of other factors.

one is steric hinderance
thus if there is steric hinderance then the molecule may produce one molecule or if there is no steric hindrance then there may be 2 molecules formed.
