I think it's fascinating to see how the poet set this poem up, alternating "the wolf's" something with whatever's in the line before -- in just about every line. Interesting construction pattern here.
From this structure and from the content, it is quite clear that he is portraying the wolf's predatory nature as an integral part of nature.
