Describe a time where you have acheieved a phenomenal accomplishment?
Answer: Five months ago I became a State Officer for Future Business Leader of America, also known as FBLA. Since my freshmen year, I knew that I wanted to become a state officer for Pennsylvania. I was determined to wear the navy blue suit that caught my eye at a conference in Pittsburgh. It sounds crazy that I wanted to run for such a prestigious position after seeing a random person in a navy blue suit. However, that is what motivated me to run for office. I saw myself wearing that suit and helping PA FBLA members develop their full potential as future business leaders. Before I get into the details of my life after being elected, I’m going to start from the beginning.
Just like any other day in the calm cool month of September, I went to my advisor to inform her I was interested in running for State Office. She looked at me with a look that clearly stated that she did not believe a word that has just came out of my mouth. I laughed it off and told her that I was serious and extremely interested in running. After a few moments of deliberation, she told me to gather all the information that was needed. After tracking down my school’s principal and superintendent; I found myself answering numerous questions, writing essays, requesting recommendations and transcripts. I felt like I was applying for college and it was only the beginning of my junior year.
After sending in my completed application, I waited anxiously to hear back from the State Office. About three weeks later, I received an email from the Pennsylvania Executive Director congratulating me on becoming a candidate for State Reporter. I was extremely excited, but my enjoyable moment came to a screeching halt after realizing that I was running against three other girls. I knew it was time to get down to business and start my campaign. Before I knew the State Leadership Conference was here. I was preparing for speeches, campaigning, and the announcement of the new officer team. After a nerve wreaking speech and hours of campaigning, the time was finally here to announce the new state officer team. I anxiously waited to hear my name being announced, and I did. It was an extremely emotional moment and it is the one time in my life where I felt I put 120% into my work. I was Pennsylvania FBLA State Reporter; a mini-celebrity in the FBLA world. It was tough leaving behind my new officer team; however I knew that we would see each other again in Chicago at Nationals.
Looking back on this once in a life time experience, I now appreciate the opportunities that I have been given. This position has provided me with the necessary skills to become an effective leader on the local and state levels and has educated me on how to prepare myself as a future business leader in the corporate world. Becoming a FBLA State Officer is a humbling experience and hopefully I can pass my knowledge onto future generations.

I don't like to comment on college essays. They are the ultimate final exam and show your personality, accomplishments, and writing skills. If I were to make any commments, in my opinion it would be cheating the college out of seeing your real work.

Reflecting on this experience, I have come to appreciate the opportunities and skills developed during my time as a State Officer.
