you are a patent agent, an inventor comes to you claiming he has invented a self-powered engine that requires no fuel to run. will you agree to patent this invention? why or why not? use the first law of thermodynamics.

can anyone help me out with this?

The first law of thermodynamics says that enegy is conserved. Treat the engine as a closed system that does work. That means that energy or heat must be input to the device to equal the work output.

What does that tell you about the claims of the inventor?
