In writing a fictional story, is first person me, myself, I? what other first person words can we use for the story?

First person singular are the ones you've named, plus my, mine, myself.

First person plural are we, us, our, ours, ourselves.

I'd stick with first person singular. It makes better sense.

Thanks for the tips...

Could I use both plural and singular in my short story? The assignment does not say which one to use just that it has to be in first person.

In writing a fictional story, first person narrative refers to the point of view where the story is told through the perspective of one specific character, typically using pronouns like "I", "me", and "myself". These pronouns help create a more intimate and personal connection between the narrator and the reader.

While "I", "me", and "myself" are the most common first person pronouns used in storytelling, there are a few other first person words that can be used to add variety or to provide a different voice to the narrative. Here are a few examples:

1. We: This can be used when the narrator is referring to themselves as part of a group or when they want to emphasize a sense of unity or inclusiveness. For example, "We decided to embark on an adventure."

2. Us: Similar to "we", "us" is used when the narrator wants to highlight their participation in a collective experience. For example, "They invited us to their party."

3. Our: This possessive pronoun is used to indicate ownership or belonging to the narrator and others. For example, "Our team won the championship."

4. Ourselves: This pronoun is a reflexive form of "we" and can be used to describe actions or thoughts that involve a collective group. For example, "We gathered ourselves and prepared for the battle ahead."

It's important to choose the first person pronouns that best suit your story's narrative style and the voice you want to give your protagonist. The pronouns you choose can significantly impact how the story is perceived by the reader and the level of intimacy they feel with the narrator.
