I am having my gallbladder out friday and i also have IBS where can i find information on a diet to follow after surgery so i do not have to deal with bad IBS for the rest of my life.i know i can not have a lot of fatty foods but what can i eat to be nutritionly healthy?

Please check with your doctor about a diet for IBS. Also see if s/he recommends any specific diet after your gall bladder is removed.

According to these sites, though, no special diet is required after gall bladder surgery. You may find this information interesting.

You should ALWAYS check with your doctor for specifics. If you want to have some questions to ask, here is one to consider:

Would following the South Beach diet or the Atkins diet be good for me after surgery and help me with my IBS?

Contrary to what lots of people believe, neither of these is a high-fat diet. Low (not "no") carb, yes, but not high-fat. Both encourage eating protein and (non-starchy) vegetables in proportion. Atkins also encourages not ingesting lots of cow's milk products -- and those could be a partial cause of IBS.

And here is a blog that focuses on healthful eating. Be sure to check out the previous topics and categories (scroll down, on the right): http://www.marksdailyapple.com/

But your number one task is to talk to your doctor about this.

=)

thank you for your help all of you

oh I am I just wanted to get some food in the house before surgery and didn't want to buy things I should not have. Kind of tired of fresh fruits ,vegetables and clear liquids and that is what i have been on for a week already.

I'm sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery. It's great that you're taking proactive steps to manage your diet and minimize the impact of IBS after your gallbladder removal. Here's how you can find information on a diet to follow after the surgery:

1. Consult your healthcare provider: The first and most important step is to speak with your doctor or a registered dietitian. They will have personalized advice based on your specific health condition, IBS symptoms, and the type of surgery you're undergoing. They can provide you with a comprehensive meal plan tailored to your needs.

2. Reliable medical websites: Look for reputable medical websites that provide information on post-gallbladder removal diet and IBS management. Websites such as Mayo Clinic, WebMD, and Johns Hopkins Medicine can be trusted sources of information. Search for articles or sections specifically addressing diet recommendations after gallbladder surgery and IBS management.

3. Online support groups and forums: Joining online support groups or forums focused on gallbladder surgery and IBS can be beneficial. Here, you'll find people who have gone through similar experiences and can share their insights and personal tips for managing their diets. However, always cross-reference the information received with reliable medical sources.

4. Diet and IBS-specific books: Look for books written by healthcare professionals or registered dietitians that offer dietary advice for individuals managing IBS and post-gallbladder removal. These books usually provide detailed meal plans and recipes tailored to specific dietary needs.

Remember, everyone's dietary needs and tolerances vary, so it's essential to speak with a healthcare professional who can provide personalized recommendations. They will consider factors such as your allergies, intolerances, and specific IBS triggers to create a diet plan that works best for you.
