For exponential notation:
You want to express the number as a value greater or equal to 1 and less than 10 multiplied by a power of 10
Examples:
102.4 = 1.024 * 10^(2)
0.00343 = 3.43 * 10^(3)
17,434 = 1.7434 * 10^(4)
