A word processing station was purchased by a company for $10,000. After 4 years it is estimated that the value of the station will be $4000. If the value in dollars V and the time the station has been in use t are related by a linear equation, find the equation that relates V and t.

I really have no clue on how to do this problem. Can someone help me please? Thank you!:)

y=ax+b (linear function)

V= 1,000t-10,000 (function of V relating to t)
In the part of the function where it should be +10,000 if the people had been given 10,000 BUT in this case they purchase it and had lost 10,000 in the begining and then are earning it back through the value of the station so it's -10,000 they spent in the begining if I'm not incorrect in my thinking

V= value of staion
t= time in years

The reason it's 1000t is because each year the station's value is 1000 ($4000/4yrs= $1000).
The b in the linear equation is a constant.
