Homework Help: English

In high school we have to read great expectations by Charles Dickens for honors English but i do not understand the essay I have to write. Could someone help me please?

Compare and contrast the ways in which the protagonist is stuck between two worlds, discuss what they consist of and how if at all they affect the protagonist. Be sure to comment on how the two worlds either help or hinder the main character from maturing or coming of age.
