Hi, I have trouble using my financial calculator, Texas Instrument BA II Plus. For the reason, the setting is messed up and it won't give me the right answer. For example, if I press:

100 PV
4 N
4 I
CPT
FV

It's supposed to give me the anwer of 116.99, but I get -101.34.

Does anybody know why it's doing this?

Thanks.

Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum. First of all I would contact the place where I purchased this item. If that doesn't work, try contacting Texas Instruments:

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your financial calculator. Let's try troubleshooting the problem together. Here are a few steps you can take to fix the issue:

1. Reset the calculator: To reset the TI BA II Plus, locate the "2nd" function key on the top left corner of the calculator. Press and hold this key, then press the "ON" key. Release both keys at the same time. This will reset the calculator to its default settings.

2. Check the settings: After resetting, make sure that your calculator is set to the correct settings. Press the "2nd" key, followed by "FORMAT". Scroll through the options using the arrow keys and ensure that the settings are as follows:
- Decimal: 2
- Format: AOS
- P/Y: 1 (if it asks)
- C/Y: 1 (if it asks)

3. Re-enter the problem: After confirming the settings, re-enter the problem you mentioned:
- Press "2nd" and then "CLR TVM" to clear any previous values.
- Enter 100, press the "PV" key.
- Enter 4, press the "N" key.
- Enter 4, press the "I/Y" key.
- Press "CPT" to calculate.
- Press "FV" to get the future value.

If the calculator still gives you the wrong answer, there may be an issue with the calculator itself. I would recommend contacting the place where you purchased it or reaching out to Texas Instruments for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps or guide you on how to get a replacement if necessary.

Remember to always double-check your inputs and ensure that the calculator is set up correctly to avoid any calculation errors.

I hope this helps resolve your issue!
