(1.00 x 10^5)NM - (3.96 x 10^3) NM = ?

I think that since they're both NM don't you think that you can just subtract them?

96,040 NM whatever NM stands for, and I didn't factor in significant figures.

Isn't that nanometers..Dr.Bob?

I have no idea but nanometers is nm, not NM. I think NM is New Mexico.
