consider racial immbalances in education,the economy, family life, housing criminal justice, health care, and politics. Of these societal challenges facing modern African Americans which do you think are most difficult to overcome.
I feel that higher education is one on the most difficult challenges that affect modern African Americans. There is the issue of poverty that has been prevalent from generation to generation. Poverty tends to be passed down to future generations due to a lack of funding, motivation, and or resources to continue a higher education that helps to qualify for better paying and more stable positions. Adults have their time tied up in taking care of the younger generations and paying the bills, and so they may not have or may not feel like they are able to go to college. This limits their job options which in turn limits their income. Children look up to the adults around them, and if the adults do not think about or talk about receiving a higher education the children will most likely follow in their footsteps. I think the most impactful thing that society can do is educate the younger population on the importance of a higher education. Their parents and grandparents also grew up in a different job market where a college education may not have had as much of an impact then. Educating the young will help to make a new future, and hopefully pave the way for a more educated future generation
