How do regular consultations between managers and their subordinates impact productivity and job satisfaction?

That depends upon the nature of the consultations. If the managers are critical and micromanage, the job satisfaction and productivity usually goes down. If the managers treat the subordinates as coworkers, job satisfaction and productivity usually is high.

The major concept to keep in mind is that job satisfaction is the key to productivity.

The Western Electric Hawthorn study in Illinois during the late 1920s and early 1930s was the forerunner of that we call scientific management and /or industrial and organizational psychological psychology.

You can obtain more information from the phrase Hawthorne study when place in the Goggle search engine.
