Posted by katrina on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 7:58am.

given that y-1/x +2=1/3 and y+3/3x-1 =5/2 find x and y.am not getting the right answer it should be 1,2.

(y-1)/(x +2) = 1/3. Change to
y - 1 = x/3 + 2/3

(y + 3)/(3x -1) = 5/2 Change to
y + 3 = 15x/2 -5/2

4 = 45 x/6 - 2x/6 -15/6 -4/6
43x/6 = 43/6
x = 1
y -1 = 1/3 + 2/3 = 1
y=2
