I have to do 20 analogies every week for spelling homework. They are hard to do sometimes. I only have 2 more and if you could help me that would be great.

bounty:austerity::rife:
parochial, overt, sparse, precarious, sultry

too holy:sanctimonious::too neat:
disdainful, forthright, fastidious, devout, erratic

Thanks in advance!!

The key to doing analogies is to know the meanings of all of the words.

Bounty and austerity are nearly opposites. Bounty is a surplus while austerity is a practice of using few resources. Which word do you think best completes this analogy? Why?

Too holy means sanctimonious. Which word means "too neat?"

Make sure you do two things:

1. Be clear on the meanings of ALL WORDS in each set. Use http://www.answers.com <~~good dictionary.

2. Be clear on the relationship of the words in the first pair. For example, are "bounty" and "austerity" opposites, or synonyms, or degrees of difference of the same thing, or what?

Let us know what you think each answer is, and someone here will give you feedback.

=)

for the analogy including bounty and austerity I got the answer sparse. is that correct? and for the other analogy i got the answer devout. I just wanted to make sure the answers were correct.

"Sparse" is correct, but "devout" is not. What means the same thing as "too neat"??

??

The word that means the same thing as "too neat" is "fastidious." So the correct answer for the analogy "too holy:sanctimonious::too neat:" would be "fastidious."

Good job on getting the answer "sparse" for the analogy "bounty:austerity::rife:"! Keep practicing and referring to the meanings of the words to improve your analogy skills.
