Posted by singh on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 2:56pm.

so basically Pluto is a planet?

basically , yes.

There is some controversy about this.

Since this is not my area of expertise, I searched Google under the key words "Pluto planet" to get these possible sources:

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/08/060824-pluto-planet.html
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2001/02/0216_Pluto.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluto
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/5282440.stm
http://www.nineplanets.org/pluto.html

I hope this helps a little more. Thanks for asking.
