hello!

i have 2 news paper articles, one of them is called "Ban all human cloning" what can i describe about this title?(i thought of straightforward but it doesn't sound right...)

the title of the second one is called "pig cloning race hot up" the content of this article is nothing other than facts and news(very objective)so i thought "ironic" wouldn't fit under the decribtion...so how do i describe this title??

thanks!

I think the first one is very straightforward. And it's even a complete sentence if you consider "Ban" as the command form of the verb.

The second one doesn't make grammatical sense unless you change "hot" to "heats." However, if the writer intended to grab people's attention by the headline (just in case the article itself was so-so!), I'd say he/she succeeded!

Let us know what you decide if you want further feedback.

=)

thank you so much!^^
so the can the second one be personification?i just thought of that...

and one more question...what is the term that you call when you ask an question but not really looking for an answer?

I'm not sure I'd call that personification -- unless you can explain it clearly.

A rhetorical question is asked, but no answer is expected.

=)

thanks!

You're welcome! And yes, you are correct. The term for asking a question without expecting an answer is a rhetorical question. It is a figure of speech used for emphasis, to make a point, or to engage the audience. The answer to a rhetorical question is usually implied or obvious. It is often used in persuasive writing or public speaking to make a statement rather than to seek information.
