Homework Help: algebra

given two containers, one holding 4 gal. and the other holding 3 gal. how does one measure out two gal.?

Fill the 3 gal, pour it in the 4 gal. Fill the 3 gal, then pout it int the 4 gal until filled. How much is left in the 3 gal?
