Homework Help: ENGLISH Literature

Posted by DANIELLE on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 12:24pm.

In the poem " Disembarking at Quebec " what does I am a word in a foreign language means.

Here are my thoughts: To me it means that I will be a stranger in a place that I don't know or don't belong.
Thanks Much.

Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum. You have the basic idea that she feels out of place. It could be that she is English-speaking in a French-speaking environment but also she has a well-ordered mind and is now in a wild, untamed (so to speak) land.

Thanks a lot.
