I have a question regarding my statistical analysis choice.
I have 40 male and 40 female participants doing my experiment (involves looking at magazines, then filling in some questionnaire measures).
- 20 female participants will look at the female magazines only
- 20 female participants will look at the male magazines only
- 20 male participants will look at the female magazines only
- 20 male participants will look at the male magazines only
So essentially I have a between-subjects design, with four conditions. Now when I enter the figures into SPSS to do a Two-Way ANOVA, SPSS will not perform the post hoc tests on my IV: Magazine Type.
(Magazine type is entered as 1= Female Magazine, 2 = Male Magazine)
I can see why because it believes there is only two groups, Is this a problem there is no post hoc testing?
Sorry if this is confusing!
Daisy
I fogot to say my other IV is gender which is why i selected two-way
Since it's been many years since I used SPSS, here is one suggestion if you don't get any other responses here.
It does look like your experiment fits the choice of test; therefore, I did a Google search on "Two-Way Between-Subjects ANOVA using SPSS" and found a few .edu sites that may help.
Good luck with your project!
One other comment:
When you do the search, the top 3 sites listed will hopefully be the ones I viewed. All were .edu sites.

Here's the Google search MathGuru is referring to.

Thanks for your response and help
