Posted by Mikayla on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at 5:54pm.

Which is True?

A 3/5 > 1/2
B 1/2 < 4/9
C 5/11 > 1/2
D 1/2 > 5/8

How do I determine?
Thanks for the help!

The shortcut for doing these is as follows:

Cross-multiply by multiplying the numerator of the first times the denominator of the second. Then multiply the denominator of the first time the numerator of the second. If the numerator of the first x the denominator of the second is greater than the denominator of the first x the numerator of the second, then the first fraction is greater. Otherwise, the second fraction is greater. Try it and see!

DanH is right.

6/10 > 5/10
9/18 < 8/18
10/22 > 11/22
4/8 > 5/8

Which answer is correct?
