I want to know all symbols in this lyric and the meaning of "on the eve of my defeat" It's for my presentation
Is anybody listening?
Can they hear me when I call?
I'm shooting signals in the air
'Cause I need somebody's help
I can't make it on my own
So I'm giving up myself
Is anybody listening
I'll be standing here and I'm miles away
Making signals hoping they'd save me
I lock myself inside these walls
'Cause out there I'm always wrong
I don't think I'm gonna make it
So while I'm sitting here
On the eve of my death bed
I'll write this letter and hope it saves me
I don't see the phrase "on the eve of my defeat" in this poem. Sorry.
Please note that we don't do students' homework for them. Our tutors try to give you the information to help you complete your assignment on your own. Once YOU have come up with a response to YOUR questions, please re-post and let us know what you think. Then someone here will be happy to critique your work.
First off, it isn't a poem - it's a (rather bad, ungrammatical and pretentious) lyric by some group called Good Charlotte. Try reading something that's actually literature.
It looks as if "Good Charlotte" is getting a bit too close to another group's lyrics:
Some of the symbols are "shooting signals in the air", "Walls", "miles away", "eve of my deathbed". Additionally, "eve of my defeat" would have the same significance. This person is comtemplating his/her possible suicide....and is crying out for help.
