Homework Help: Elements

Posted by Sam on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at 10:08am.

Which elements result if two protons and two neutrons are ejected from a radium nucleus with atomic number 88 and mass number 226?

What element is atomic number 86 and mass 222?

Sorry, should be atomic number 88.

Huh? It ejected two protons, changing the number of protons in the nucleus to 88-2=86
