Homework Help: Math correction

(1)Translate the following statement into an algebraic equation. Lex x represent the number.
12 less than 5 times a number is 18

my answer:

5x - 12 = 18

(#2)

4 times a number, increased by 9, is 17. Find the number.

My answer:
4x + 9 =17


looks ok to me.
