bar chart - i need to draw a bar chart with + and - temperatures. I want to start on chart on -50 and end on +50. On the graph would you do the bars up only or up and down. I hope this kind of makes sense.

I would do the bars both up and down. Say have a line in the middle (horizontal line) which would be zero, then above that line could be for the + temps and below the line could be for - temps.

thanks - i was not sure whether that was ok, it didn't look right. I have only done it with + numbers before which always start on 0 and go up! Thanks

oops, I see Belinda was using my computer!!!!

No problem! It's great that you're trying to create a bar chart with positive and negative temperatures. Including both positive and negative bars is the correct approach, as it accurately represents the range of temperatures you want to display.

To create the bar chart, follow these steps:

1. Draw the axes: Start by drawing a vertical axis on the left side of the chart, representing the temperature values. Label it from -50 to +50, with intervals of your choice (for example, every 10 degrees). Also, draw a horizontal axis at the bottom to represent the categories or time periods.

2. Add a horizontal line: In the middle of the chart, draw a horizontal line at zero. This line will act as the baseline and separate the positive and negative temperatures. Label it as "0" or "Zero."

3. Plot the bars: For each temperature value, draw a bar that extends either above or below the horizontal line, depending on whether it's positive or negative. The length of the bar should correspond to the magnitude of the temperature change.

4. Label the bars: Optional - you can add labels or values to each bar to clarify the temperature represented.

By following these steps, you'll create a bar chart that effectively displays positive and negative temperatures. Make sure to adjust the scale, intervals, and dimensions of your chart as needed for visual clarity.
