You are searching for information that is so specific that you have to be prepared for the possibility that none of it may be online. Or some may be, and some may not. In addition to searching on the Internet, you also need to make best friends with the reference librarian(s) in your local or college library.

At this webpage, you can go immediately to the search sites (first three columns across the top) -- or even better you can scroll down until you see the section called HOW TO SEARCH THE INTERNET. Those are the links to start with. You'll not only learn how to come up with good search terms, but also how to evaluate the webpages you get as results. Some will be good and others will be garbage. You need to know how to tell the difference.

My favorite way to search is to go to Google's advanced search page
< http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en > and put my search words or phrases into the first or second search box (either "all the words" or "exact phrase"). However, there many other strategies for searching you can use, and the HOW TO SEARCH THE INTERNET section will help you best. Here is one website I found when I searched for history jeans levi strauss:

There are MANY others.

To find articles or books about the fashion of jeans during the 1950s, 1980s, and present day, you can follow these steps:

1. Start by searching for relevant keywords on the internet. Go to a search engine like Google and enter phrases such as "fashion of jeans in the 1950s," "jeans fashion trends in the 1980s," and "current fashion of jeans." Adjust the keywords as needed to get more targeted results.

2. Utilize the advanced search features of search engines. On Google, you can go to the advanced search page (found at <http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en>) to refine your search by specifying certain words or phrases that must appear, excluding certain words or phrases, or limiting search results to specific websites or domains.

3. Visit websites of reputable fashion magazines, journals, or blogs that often cover historical or contemporary fashion trends. Look for archives or search functions within these websites to find articles or blog posts related to the fashion evolution of jeans during the desired time periods.

4. Consider academic databases or library catalogs. Many libraries provide access to databases like JSTOR, ProQuest, or EBSCOhost, which contain a wide range of scholarly articles and books. Use relevant keywords to search for articles on the topic. Alternatively, check your local or college library's catalog to see if they have any books or resources specifically focused on the fashion history of jeans.

5. Don't forget about physical books! While online sources may be more accessible and convenient, don't overlook the possibility of finding books in your local library or through interlibrary loan services. Talk to your reference librarian for assistance in locating and obtaining books related to the fashion of jeans during the desired time periods.

Remember, it's essential to critically evaluate the sources you find to ensure their credibility and suitability for your needs.
