A bat flying in a cave emits a sound and receives its echo 0.9 s later. How far away is the cave wall?

The distance there and back is given by
distance=velocitySound*time

We are not given velocity to solve for the problem.

The velocity of sound is something you ought to memorize.
vsound= 344 m/s at room temp, standard pressure.
