1760 I think

There are 5,280 feet in a mile.

There are 3 feet in a yard.

1 mi x (5,280 ft/1 mi) x (1 yd/3 ft) = ??

Note that the first factor cancels miles and changes miles to feet, the second factor cancels feet and converts to yards. The idea here is to place the factors such that the unit you don't want cancels and the unit you want is the only one left. I hope this helps. This is a great way to do conversions. You can check any answer by going to www.google.com and type in "1 mile to yards" without the quotation marks and get an answer instantly.

Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum. First of all, how many feet in a yard? (3) Now, how many feet in a mile? (5280) If you divide 3 into 5280 what do you get? (1760)
