easy i multiplied 4,000 multiplied by 4

it says that the cost for each person is REDUCED by 4000 though. no that it IS 4000.

Let P be the price of the yacht. If 3 people decide to buy it then each owes P/3
Suppose now that a 4th person is entered into the purchase. Then
P/4 = P/3 - 4000 or P/3 - P/4 = 4000 so P/12 = 4,000. I'll let you figure P.
The original share would've been 16,000 and the share for four people is 12,000.
